Abstract: Diarrhea is considered as a major global problem with a mortality number of 1.6 million globally, and a third-leading cause of children mortality in the world. One of the causes of diarrhea is Salmonella typhi infection and is one of the leading causes of death worldwide, causing more than a hundred thousand mortality each year. The presence of antibioticresistant strains makes it even hard to control the disease. As a consequence, finding alternative compounds to cure typhoid infection is promising nowadays. In this experiment, the antibacterial compounds extracted from Pangium edule were extracted and tested toward typhoid-infected mice. However, from the observation of colonies formed on the mice stool and the observation of mice’s weight during the infection and treatment period, it indicates that the alkaloid and phenolic acid are not potent toward the infection of Salmonella typhi in BALB/c mice.
