Abstract: | Calophyllum inophyllum (CI) has been traditionally used due to its anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antiviral, antioxidant, UV protection, and wound healing activities which are influenced by the presence of phytochemical compounds. Therefore, there is an importance in the detection of the phytochemical compounds. Prior to detection, an extraction process like maceration is done to obtain the ethanolic seeds extract which can be followed by liquid-liquid extraction to obtain the methanol fraction. Maceration yields in 23% of CI seeds while liquid-liquid extraction yields 65% of the ethanol seeds extract. After the extraction, the methanol fraction was subjected to qualitative and quantitative analysis, testing its alkaloids, quinones, saponins, steroids, tannins, terpenoids, total flavonoid content (TFC), and total phenolic content (TPC). From the qualitative analysis, only the presence of 3 compounds can be detected: alkaloids, steroids, and tannins while TFC and TPC of the methanol fraction are 25.6757 mg QE/g extract and 3.2735 mg GAE/g extract. |
