| dc.description.abstract | Oral chemotherapy represents a significant advancement in cancer treatment by offering patients greater convenience and autonomy. This study aimed to assess the knowledge levels of cancer patients receiving Capecitabine or Imatinib at a cancer hospital in Jakarta, focusing on drug indications, side effects, and handling practices. Using a descriptive cross-sectional design, 38 patients were surveyed through a validated questionnaire. Results showed that while most patients demonstrated good knowledge regarding dosage, storage, and administration, critical gaps remained in areas such as side effect awareness, handling of contaminated materials, and proper drug disposal. A notable percentage of patients reported missed doses and unsafe disposal practices, particularly in handling vomit or blister packaging, posing risks to both health and the environment. Statistical analysis revealed that marital status significantly influenced knowledge levels, highlighting the role of social support. These findings underscore the need for targeted, multimedia educational interventions to improve patient understanding and promote safe, effective use of oral chemotherapy agents. | en_US |
