Abstract: | Ovarian cancer (OC) is one of the most common and lethal gyneological cancers, requiring much attention on the improvement of therapeutic solutions. One novel therapeutic strategy would be to target lncRNAs, such as MALAT-1, which has established association with OC. MALAT-1 interacts with various biological molecules and pathways to regulate OC and some suggests that it has an association with the immunotherapy-related Protein X encoded by Gene Y. Thus, to confirm the correlation between MALAT-1 and Protein X, in silico analysis with R and in vitro validation by lentivirus transduction was performed. Through the in silico analysis, it was found that MALAT-1 and Gene Y has a negative correlation and has one miRNA that was significantly correlated with both genes, which was let-7i. On the contrary, the in vitro validation resulted in an unsatisfactory outcome as the MALAT-1 failed to be overexpressed in the OC cell lines. This indicates that it would be difficult to draw a definitive conclusion on the validity of the in silico analysis results. Overall, more solid research design and methodological improvements would be required to establish this study’s results. |
