Industrial wastewater is one of many problems that cause damage to the environment in Indonesia, thus requiring it to be treated prior to discharging to the water body. This project aimed to improve the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) system at PT Faratu to be able to treat its wastewater to meet the wastewater quality standards regulated by Indonesia government. To achieve this, the WWTP was designed to consist of several stages, including equalization, coagulation and flocculation, filtration, aeration, sedimentation, and granulated activated carbon filtration and ultrafiltration. This project includes process optimization, equipment upgrades, and process control. The project led to a significant improvement of efficiency TSS removal and COD concentration reduction from 8172 mg/L to ± 1200 mg/L through coagulation and flocculation process and activated sludge process. The sludge removal can also be improved by investing in filter press. The improvements resulting in increased wastewater effluent quality, and reduced B3 disposal costs, which have positive impacts on the environment, and also operation costs. However, with limited time of internship and management policy, the best result of the proposed WWTP system is still unclear. Further development of PT Faratu’s WWTP is needed to achieve the best possible treatment results.en_US
