Biodesign: a Novel Solution Based on DRG. Sanny Limiatys’s Problem Regarding Clear Aligner

Abstract

Dental malocclusion caused by problems with the size and/or size of the teeth/jaw. Most of the cases are caused by having too little or too much room in the jaw. Thumb-sucking, tooth loss, pacifier usage, and genetics are some of the factors that can cause teeth malocclusion. To treat it, usually the dentist will put braces that use metal wire or clear braces (aligner). Beside using the braces, one or more teeth need to be removed to make space for the teeth that are straightened. If the case is severe, then surgery is needed. Based on the dentist interview that is done with drg. Sanny Limiaty, some of the issues that her patients encounter is that the moved tooth creates pain that leads to uncomfortable eating, they lose their clear aligner during lunch time, and most teenagers need to be reminded to wear their clear aligners. There is an app for this but most adolescents still forgot to use their clear aligners. Personal patient app is really encouraged to be made with features such as communicating to the dentist, schedule plus reminders of their treatment and see their teeth movement plus track their changes. For the solution that is proposed are, a clear aligner storage container with a pressure sensor that can detect when the clear aligner is placed back into the container that has a bluetooth connection with the mobile application. In conclusion the solution that is made can help both the dentist and patient problem.
