Abstract: | Malocclusion is a dental condition in which the alignment of upper and lower jaws are not aligned properly, thus, causing poor biting patterns and lisp. The clear aligner is mainly caused genetically inherited and also can arise by many factors such as injuries that affect the jaws, tumors in jaws or teeth, and childhood habits. The prevalence of malocclusion is quite common worldwide and in Indonesia is dominated by adolescents. There are two orthodontic treatments used to treat malocclusion, which are metal braces and clear aligners. The clear aligner has more demand due to possessing various advantages compared to metal braces. Based on the interview with several clear aligner users, most of the common issues related to the treatment experience like consistency to using clear aligners regularly. Thus, possesses a risk for delaying the treatment progression due to teeth rearrangement to improper position, and a new set of clear aligners needs to be redesigned. To solve the issues, a solution is proposed in a clear aligner container by embedding a pressure sensor that can detect the placement of clear aligners back into the container. The aligner container is also integrated with a phone app connected via Bluetooth and the user will be notified through the patient app when clear aligners back into the container. Additionally, the apps are included with other features, such as a reminder and chat with the user's dentist. This eases users to follow the treatment schedule and improve the treatment experience. In conclusion, this solution should be able to aid both the patients in the clear aligner treatment. |
