Abstract: Keratin, pectin, and silver nanoparticles are known to be the material that is able to increase the rate of wound healing. Meanwhile, hydrogels are also known as a modern developed wound dressing that is able to help wound healing and serve with ease to be incorporated with any substances that promote wound healing. The research aims to analyze the effect of the combination between keratin and pectin incorporated with silver nanoparticles that packed into the hydrogel and then used further to be a wound dressing. The wound was then analyzed through histological observation. Mice were treated with a combination of keratin and pectin incorporated with silver nanoparticles hydrogels. Then the wound was measured daily. Lastly, the wounded skin would be extracted, sectioned, stained using eosin and hematoxylin, then observed under the light microscope. The result shows that there is no significant result between days 3 and 9. But the result shows a significant difference on day 6 between the Control group and KP AgNP (P= 0.0360) and the pectin AgNP and KP AgNP groups also show significant differences (P= 0.0371). In conclusion, the research shows that the additional substances may be significant in the first 6 days but shows no significance in the wound reduction. Meanwhile, the other effect could be seen in the histological observation and proven to fasten the re-epithelialization process.
