The S Gene Primer Design for the Detection of SARS-CoV-2 Virus

Title: The S Gene Primer Design for the Detection of SARS-CoV-2 Virus
Authors: Chandra, Nelson
Abstract: In the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, the testing instrument for detecting the SARS-CoV-2 virus is barely available. However, due to the swift actions of the bioinformaticians and biomedical scientist, RT-PCR is becoming the gold standard for detecting the existence of the SARS-CoV-2 virus in the human samples. S gene of the virus, as the one that expressed the Spike protein, is responsible for the viral attachment to the ACE2 receptor and penetrating the cell. One of the targets of the RT-PCR protocol is the S gene, and PCR primers are developed accordingly to cater that needs. In our contribution, the in-silico method to design PCR primer for S gene will be described. Involved parameters such as %GC, hairpin, dimers, Tm, and others will be narrated. In this end, it is expected that this contribution could provide insight on how to develop PCR primers with bioinformatics tools.

Authors: Savero, Sava
Abstract: This internship report titled “DEVELOPMENT OF DATABASE FOR DRUG-DRUG INTERACTIONS OF
DRUGS FROM LIRAMEDIKA HOSPITAL” covers the author’s internship experiences and tasks that are
done during the internship. The internship mainly focuses on the development of the website the
drug-to-drug interaction feature the Indonesia International Institute for Life-Sciences is developing
in collaboration with Liramedika Hospital. The author’s task mainly focuses on the development of
the drug request page of the website. This is done with the provided Laravel project with the given
website template that is uploaded to the Gitlab repository. The authors manage to complete the task
needed within the time period of the internship.

Drug-Drug Interaction Database and Web Services for Hospital System

Title: Drug-Drug Interaction Database and Web Services for Hospital System
Authors: Natasya, Nadya
Abstract: As new diseases are discovered every year, new medicational treatments are also found to fight the disease. Nowadays several symptoms can be occured at once so more than one medication cannot be avoided. Especially in the elderly most of them take 3 to 5 different medications and vitamins daily. Not to mention when they get sick, the number of medicational intakes will also increase. With the increasing number of medicational intake, problems also occur. For instance, some specific medicine cannot be taken together or they will react and have a negative effect. Most of the medication errors come from prescription errors. This error was mostly done by the junior doctor or pharmacy that did not have enough knowledge or information. This project is to create a web service that provides the system to search for a drug interaction with the input of the medicine name. The system was built using the PHP 7.4 and Laravel 8 Framework, Bootstrap and JQuery UI, together with MariaDB 15 database. The medicine brand and its compositions were retrieved from Lira Medika hospital and Bina Medika hospital. While the drug interaction was retrieved from the DrugBank database. After the prototype database system for the drugs was made, the drug interaction was connected through the API connection. API is used to make a connection to another system. The interaction results were then sent back to the system so the results can be viewed by the user. This system is made so that it can act as a support for the pharmacy, apothecary, or even doctors in making their prescription so that human error and prescription error can be reduced.

Title: Development of Website for Database of Drug-Drug Interactions of Drugs From Liramedika Hospital
Authors: Kresnia, Gabriele Mustika
Abstract: The internship project focused on the creation of a database which can document both the drug products and the drug-drug interactions between the contents of the available drugs in the database. To achieve this, both students from the Bioinformatics faculty and the Pharmacy faculty worked together with Liramedika Hospital, their respective supervisors and an external programmer to build the database and the required API. This report specifically discusses the need for such databases, as well as the responsibilities done during the internship, which is the creation of user roles and the ability to manage the permissions of these roles, as well as allowing users to put in a product request, as well as edit and delete the product request.
